Brad Pitt opens up about ‘face blindness’

Brad Pitt has revealed he believes he has a rare health disorder which triggers face blindness.

The US actor, 58, recently admitted in an interview with GQ he thinks he has prosopagnosia, an uncommon disorder that causes people not to recognise faces.

However, it is understood Pitt has not been officially diagnosed.

The disorder is usually present at birth and will affect sufferers for most of their lives.

The Once Upon A Time In Hollywood actor told the magazine he has a hard time recognising people and worries that his disorder has led people to view him as “aloof, inaccessible, self-absorbed”.

“Nobody believes me! I wanna meet another [sufferer],” he told author Ottessa Moshfegh when she revealed her husband believes he has the same condition.

This is not the first time Pitt has insisted he has prosopagnosia.

“So many people hate me because they think I’m disrespecting them,” he told Esquire back in 2013.

“Every now and then, someone will give me context, and I’ll say, ‘Thank you for helping me.’ But I piss more people off.

“You get this thing, like, ‘You’re being egotistical. You’re being conceited.’ But it’s a mystery to me, man,” he said.

“I can’t grasp a face, and yet I come from such a design/aesthetic point of view. I am going to get it tested.”

It’s unclear if Pitt has had official testing done.

A representative for Pitt did not respond to a request for comment.

In the same interview, Pitt opened up about life after divorce from Angelina Jolie.

The notoriously private star said he felt emotional turmoil and deep sadness were an inevitable part of growth.

“I think all our hearts are broken,” Pitt said.

“I always felt very alone in my life, alone growing up as a kid, alone even out here, and it’s really not ’til recently that I have had a greater embrace of my friends and family.”

Pitt, who has starred in iconic films including Ocean’s Eleven, Fight Club and Inglourious Basterds also revealed the bombshell news that his acting days were numbered.

“I consider myself on my last leg,” he said. “This last semester or trimester. What is this section gonna be? And how do I wanna design that?

“I’m one of those creatures that speaks through art. I just want to always make. If I’m not making, I’m dying in some way.”
