Bitter Presley feud settles over Lisa Marie estate

Priscilla Presley and granddaughter Riley Keough made a final move in their dispute over the estate of the late Lisa Marie Presley.

The estranged Presley family has ended their bitter feud over the will of Lisa Marie Presley with a deal in the millions that has left “everyone happy”, according to US reports.

Priscilla Presley and her granddaughter Riley Keough fell out over who controlled the trust of Lisa Marie, who died due to a cardiac arrest in January.

Before her death, Elvis Presley’s only child had reportedly changed the terms of her will to make her children, Riley and Benjamin Keough, her sole heirs.

Priscilla Presley filed a legal challenge to the will, causing a deep and “heartbreaking” rift between the Presley progeny.

The legal teams reached a settlement in court after the estate of Lisa Marie paid Priscilla an undisclosed sum “in the millions”, according to TMZ.

“They have reached a settlement. The families are happy. Everybody is happy and excited for the future,” Priscilla’s lawyer Ronson Shamoun announced outside the court.

Keough’s lawyer, Justin Gold, said that the star of Daisy Jones and the Six was also pleased with the deal, adding “she would not have agreed to the settlement if she was not happy with it”.

The pair also settled a dispute over a second trust involving the late star’s life insurance policies. Terms of either settlement are unlikely to be made public as lawyers indicated a coming motion to seal the settlement.

LA Superior Court Judge Lynn Scaduto scheduled a hearing on August 4 to approve the settlements.

The agreement ended what a family insider told Entertainment Tonight was a “very tense and heartbreaking” aftermath to Lisa Marie’s sudden passing.

Priscilla Presley had questioned the validity of her daughter’s signature on a 2016 will amendment, arguing it appeared “inconsistent”.

“Riley has been mourning the loss of her mother and is heartbroken to have to deal with a trust dispute with a family member,” the family source told Entertainment Tonight.

“Priscilla is adamant that she has a valid case and that she will prevail in court. Riley and Priscilla aren’t communicating at this time, but have been in communication through lawyers.”

Keough, who has buried bury both her mother and brother in the past years, had been “very stressed” over the dispute.

There are conflicting reports on just how much money Lisa Marie Presley had, but it has been reported she spent a US$100 million (A$146 million) inheritance she received from her father after turning 25 in 1993.

However, she still owned Graceland, Presley’s US$10 million (A$14 million) Memphis estate which is now a tourist attraction, through a trust. Graceland will now be inherited by her children -- Keough, and 14-year-old twins Harper and Finley Lockwood.
