Aquaman on the Gold Coast: Amber Heard chills out and Jason Momoa performs a haka

AQUAMAN star Jason Momoa spends a lot of time working out but this weekend has switched Atlantis for a Burleigh Heads Gym. But instead of pumping iron, he did something entirely unexpected.

COLD and wet, surrounded by the smell of dead fish, still hard at work long after dark ...

It’s hardly the way you’d expect Hollywood star Amber Heard to spend Friday night on the Gold Coast.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa and Heard, who plays his character’s love interest, Mera, in the latest superhero blockbuster to film on the Coast, spent Friday night on the job at The Spit.

Director James Wan and his stars have reportedly been working long days as filming on the DC Comics romp continues on location and on the lot at Village Roadshow Studios.

Momoa was spied rugged up in a black duffel coat as Heard, dressed in her character’s shimmering green fish suit, was sprayed with water in-between takes.

Large screens were moved around to stop members of the public and guests at nearby Palazzo Versace from watching on while water police patrolled the area on jet skis.

Their Aquaman castmate Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who suits up as submarine-riding villain Black Manta, was also at The Spit on the weekend — for pleasure, not business.

Abdul-Mateen II shared a photo of himself in front of a wall of flowers at Polo By The Sea, at Doug Jennings park on Saturday, on Instagram and captioned it: All smiles today. #PoloByTheSea.

Momoa used his weekend to help members of a local gym perform a haka for New Zealand-born Samoan MMA star Mark Hunt, who takes on Derrick Lewis at a UFC Fight Night in Auckland on June 11 — his first appearance in New Zealand since 2002.

Hunt posted a video on Instagram of Momoa and the crew from Burleigh Heads MMA gym Heartbreak Conditioning performing a prayer and the haka in his honour.

“Fighting is a part of our culture and has always been a part of my life and I’m so blessed to share a part of my journey with you guys,” he wrote in one of the captions.
