Alec Baldwin to release reality TV show about family life

Alec Baldwin has broken down as he and his wife Hilaria opened up about the devastating toll the fatal shooting on the set of his film ‘Rust’ has had on them.

US cable network TLC released the trailer for The Baldwins, a reality series following the couple and their seven kids.

The trailer starts on a lighthearted note, capturing the chaos of the Baldwin family as they navigate their daily life with their big family.

However, the teaser takes a quick sombre tone as it delves into the events surrounding the deadly shooting.

Baldwin was holding a revolver during a rehearsal for the low-budget Western movie in October 2021 when a live round was fired, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding the film’s director.

The case against the Hollywood star was dismissed by a New Mexico judge in July 2024.

“A son lost his mum in the most unthinkable tragedy,” Hilaria says in the preview as shots of the “Rust” set are shown.

“This is never something to forget, and we’re trying to parent through it.”

In the next scene, Alec, 66, tells his wife: “Honestly, from the bottom of my soul, I don’t know where I’d be if I didn’t have you and these kids.”

The teaser also shows Hilaria telling one of her children to ignore a paparazzi taking photos of them from nearby.

“We’ve had bad moments, but we found our foundation,” Hilaria says in a voiceover.

“We’re solid and we’re here together.”

TLC’s description for the premiere episode reads: “Alec and Hilaria celebrate their oldest son Rafael’s ninth birthday and, in a bid to escape the noise of the city, they head to East Hampton to continue a yearly summer tradition.

“But in the midst of celebration is uncertainty as Alec faces trial. Alec and Hilaria navigate the emotional complexities of the moment, all while keeping their children’s lives as stable as possible.”

The couple said in a statement about their TLC show: “This series gives viewers a glimpse into our lives as a family — the good, bad, wild and everything in between. We hope viewers will connect with our experiences and the love we share. Filming the show has been an amazing journey, and we’re proud to have TLC as a partner in telling our story.”

The Baldwins premieres on February 23, on TLC.
