COMMERCIAL radio’s loss is community radio’s gain — again — with Adrian “AJ” Johnston who abruptly departed Gold FM late last year joining 94.1.

He is the second high-profile broadcaster from Gold FM to end up at the burgeoning community station after ex- Gold FM breakfast radio king Richard Fowler.

Fowler has hosted its breakfast show on weekday mornings for almost two years whilst Johnston will do a new real estate-focused show on Saturday from next month.

94.1FM CEO Garry Field said, like Fowler, “to get AJ is really big for us”.

Radio Personalities AJ (Adrian Johnston) and Richard Fowler want government action have both left Gold FM.

“I don’t have a full-time show for AJ to host but he didn’t want to do full-time anyway,” Mr Field said. “He wants a bit of a rest but still wants to keep his hands on it.

“It is a new concept in radio, a Gold Coast real estate show.

“We’re not out to sell houses, but provide news and information on possibly the biggest industry on the Gold Coast.

“I’m very proud and chuffed to have such high-profile professionals. They’re very well known and have been on the Gold Coast for many years.”

Johnston’s first 94.1 FM show is March 2 at 9am.
