Spice Girl Melanie B has posed in a tiny bikini in her trademark leopard print – comparing it to a photo of herself taken 25 years ago.
Melanie, who will mark her milestone 50th birthday later this month, posed in heels and a tiny string bikini for her Instagram followers, and posted it alongside the similarly-revealing cover of her 2000 debut solo album, Hot.
“Years apart but im still just enjoying every bit of summer I can,” she captioned the “throwback” post
Melanie B will turn 50 on May 29, making her the fourth out of five Spice Girls to hit the milestone birthday (Baby Spice, Emma Bunton, will hit the big 5-0 in January next year).
It’s not the only celebration in her immediate future: Melanie’s former The Masked Singer co-star Dave Hughes recently revealed to news.com.au that he’s scored an invite to her upcoming wedding in London. She’s set to marry hairstylist Rory McPhee after the pair announced their engagement in October 2022.
Meanwhile, former bandmate Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations in April last year provided that rarest of things: A sighting of all five Spice Girls together, as the whole group flocked to her lavish birthday bash.
Before that, the last time we had photo evidence of a five-piece Spice reunion was way back in February 2018, when all members of the group met for a planning meeting for what would then become their brief 2019 reunion tour of the UK and Ireland.
That outing went ahead as a four-piece, with Beckham deciding that life as a Spice Girl was very much in her past.
But there are now new rumours the group may reunite once more, to mark another big milestone in Spice history: Next year is the 30th anniversary of the release of the group’s world-conquering debut single Wannabe.
Beckham isn’t expected to take part in any possible tour, but this time it appears there may be another holdout: in a recent interview on the No Filter with Kate Langbroek podcast, Melanie C seemed to suggest bandmate Geri Halliwell still needed some convincing.
“So we are talking about what that’s going to look like and for me, Melanie, I know for sure, and Emma [Bunton], we’d be back on stage,” she said of the group’s 30th anniversary plans. “But sometimes other people need a little bit more convincing.”
