UPDATE: A 45-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life in hospital after being hit by a car tonight.
The man sustained a serious head injury and a laceration to his leg after the incident on Marine Pde, Southport.

Traffic is being diverted around the scene as forensic police investigate the crash.

The crash occurred just before 6pm and sent traffic into chaos.

EARLIER: Emergency crews were called to the corner of Griffith and Warner Sts at Coolangatta today just after 8.45am, where a motorcycle and a car are believed to have collided.

A man in his 40s was transported stable to Tweed Heads Hospital complaining of back pain and other minor injuries.

Police, paramedics and firefighters also responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on the Gold Coast Highway at Mermaid Beach after 10am.

A male in his 20s was transported stable to Robina Hospital with a hand fracture and minor abrasions.

At 10.25am, a male passenger was transported stable to the Gold Coast University Hospital with a laceration to his leg following a three-car crash on Smith St at Southport.

This afternoon a rider crashed his motorbike on Arondel Cct in Upper Coomera.

Paramedics are assessing the patient.

The incident happened at 3.29pm.
