A cyclist is being treated by paramedics after slamming into an open car door on the Gold Coast on Wednesday morning.

The cyclist was travelling south along Scarborough St at Southport when she collided with the door of a parked car, a witness said in the immediate aftermath.

The witness said he heard a large “whack” when the cyclist hit the door.

“I’ve never seen so many police,” he said.

“I think her [the cyclist’s] biggest problem is hitting the deck.”

As of 8.35am, the cyclist was lying on the ground covered in a blanket.

Police were examining the interior of the door the cyclist collided with.

The parked vehicle is a grey Nissan SUV.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said one paramedic crew was on scene assessing a female patient with a facial injury.

The QAS spokesman said the woman was in a stable condition and had not been taken to hospital as of 8.55am.
