A FORMER Gold Coast Titans star has split his followers by appearing at anti-lockdown/Covid restrictions protests on Saturday afternoon.
Ex Gold CoastTitans star, Kevin Gordon - who now goes by Deep Gordon on social media - shared videos on his Instagram of hundreds of people at the Brisbane protests using the hashtag #worldwiderallyforfreedom.
Gordon was a popular speedster for the Titans before quitting the game early citing injuries and pain to focus on more artistic pursuits and fostering his “Deep Gordon” persona.
One of the protest videos in Brisbane he shared showed people with signs saying ‘We’re tired of asking nicely. What are you going to say when your grandchildren ask you ‘What did you try and do to stop this?”.
Some of Gordon’s followers were “disappointed” to see his posts.
“This is just downright disappointing,” one said. “The disappointing fall of a rugby legend,” another said.
Others were glad to see him there: “Standing up for freedom,” a comment said.
The mostly peaceful anti-lockdown rallies were seen across the country on Saturday night and included police clashing violently with protesters in Melbourne.
The Brisbane rallies came as Southeast Queensland hosted a “Super Pfizer weekend” with a record of 33,004 people vaccinated on Saturday.
