CONTRACTORS today started laying heavy concrete blocks at border crossing point across the southern Gold Coast.

The blocks replaced water-filled concrete barriers, which had been in place for a number of days.

Gold Coast Police Chief Superintendent Mark Wheeler said the “hard closures” would continue for an indefinite period of time.

“If you don’t have a border pass or an essential reason to come to Queensland you will be refused entry at our border,” Supt Wheeler said.
