Coasters divided over g-string bikini bum ban

Gold Coasters are divided about controversial calls to ban the g-string bottomed-bikini off the beach - see what residents think VIDEO

Should Gold Coast beachgoers cover up after leaving the beach

Are Gold Coasters too risque and revealing with their swimwear when off the beach and not covering up? We asked members of the public on the Surfers Paradise beachfront on Monday.

Anna Adler:

“In Germany it’s a little bit more conservative than here. Everyone has a body and you can do with it whatever you want, so it’s okay.”

Emma McGeachy:

“Sometimes we just don’t want to wait to cover up because your bikini is still wet and all the sand falls off.”

Allissa Bellino:

“I don’t think it’s too revealing, everyone can do what they like with their bodies.”

Brad Nugent:

“When you’re actually sitting at a Cafe or walking down Cavill Avenue and someone walks past you in a G-string, it’s off-putting. Each to their own, but I would say on the streets is not our cup of tea.”

Chandelle Nugent:

“A bit of elegance, a bit of class. We need to get back to that. Let’s bring it back to being classy for families, especially on the Gold Coast. I don’t see any girls topless, everyone has the right to wear what they like but try and be a little bit more modest on the street.”

“You’ve got so many options, throw a sarong, a little dress or whatever. Keep it on the beach.

Flavia Souzi:

“In Brazil we only wear it (G-string) on the beach, not in the shopping malls or on the streets.”
