Winning $1.2m lotto ticket claimed by Bicheno man

A Tasmanian man is more than $1 million richer after discovering he had the unclaimed winning lotto ticket.

Tasmania’s newest millionaire has realised he’s $1.26m richer after discovering he had the winning lotto ticket.

The elusive player bought their TattsLotto ticket at Bicheno Newsagency in Bicheno, in Tasmania’s northeast, but didn’t registered their division one winning ticket.

The winning numbers in Saturday’s draw were 26, 15, 33, 43, 22 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 4 and 11.

However, it wasn’t until Monday morning that the Bicheno man checked to see if he’d won anything.

“It’s unbelievable,” the retiree said.

“I only discovered the news about 30 minutes ago. It’s very fresh.

“I’ve been playing for 40 odd years and to be honest with you, I only play spasmodically – very lazily.

“I feel very lucky.”

The man said he’s got a few plans for his prize money.

“I’ll be helping my children with the prize, but also treating myself to a new lawnmower,” he said.

“I could probably buy 1000 lawnmowers.”

The final division one winner remained unknown for days, leaving many scrambling to see if they had the winning ticket.

“Imagine how exciting it would be to realise you’ve won more than $1.26 million,” The Lott spokesman Matt Hart said.

“Your plans for the rest of the year would certainly change with that prize in your bank account.”

The winning ticket was one of the four division one winning entries drawn across the country in Saturday’s draw, with one each in Queensland, Victoria, Tasmania and Western Australia.

Each division one winning entry collected $1,264,652.43.

There’s been nine division one winning entries claimed in Tasmania this year so far, with more than $12.28m being won.
