LEADING Gold Coast businesswoman Rebecca Frizelle has been appointed to the board of prominent developer Sunland Group.
Ms Frizelle, the former Gold Coast Titans chairwoman who is currently leading a consortium to buy the club, was name to the board in a letter to the ASX this morning.
She is the company’s first female board member since it was founded in 1983 by executive director Soheil Abedian.
Mr Abedian said in the letter that Ms Frizelle was ‘eminently qualified’ for the role.
“Rebecca is one of the most talented and respected business people on the Gold Coast and brings to
the role more than 25 years’ experience in business strategy and workforce development,” Mr Abedian said.”
We are thrilled to welcome her to Sunland.”
Mr Abedian said the Board’s skills and composition are closely aligned with Sunland’s strategic direction, as the Group maintains its conservative approach to the delivery and replenishment of its $4.7 billion development portfolio.
The portfolio comprises 6,284 residential homes, urban land lots and multistorey apartments along Australia’s eastern seaboard, and Sunland’s emerging retail portfolio.
Sunland is one of the city’s most prominent developers, having built some of the Gold Coast’s best-known buildings, including the iconic Q1 tower in Surfers Paradise and Palazzo Versace on The Spit.
Sunland was publicly listed in 1995 and has more than $1.4 billion worth of projects in the pipeline for the Gold Coast.
These include a four-tower resort on Greenmount Hill overlooking some of the city’s most famous surf breaks, The Lakes at Mermaid Waters, Magnoli at Palm Beach and One Marine at Labrador.
