Special report: OzAurum has added mining heavyweight Ashok Parekh to the board as non-executive chairman, supporting the company’s rapid drilling push at Mulgabbie North in WA’s Eastern Goldfields.
Parekh brings to OzAurum more than 45 years of experience within the mining and resources sector.
His direct involvement in the management of gold mining and milling companies in the Kalgoorlie region, including his tenure as managing director of several entities and the successful operation of Coolgardie Custom Milling for 12 years, provides OzAurum Resources (ASX:OZM) with exceptional leadership insight.
He brings extensive experience in mining dealmaking, with a history of guiding companies through successful IPOs and the formation of major gold operations.
Parekh has been honoured for his industry contributions with the Centenary Medal (2003) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ highest accolade, the Meritorious Service Award.
He is also the non-executive chairman of emerging mid-tier Kalgoorlie gold producer Horizon Minerals (ASX:HRZ).
‘Pivotal time’
OZM managing director and CEO Andrew Pumphrey said he was delighted to welcome Ashok Parekh as the company’s new chairman.
“His deep industry knowledge, extensive network within the Kalgoorlie region and the wider mining and resources sector, and proven commercial acumen make him an exceptional strategic appointment for OzAurum at this pivotal time,” he said.
“I have known and worked with Ashok for many years and his experience in gold exploration and mining will be invaluable as we progress our projects.”
What else is happening?
Alongside the appointment, Jeffrey Williams will step down as chairman and remain on the board as a non-executive director.
The board of OzAurum acknowledges Williams’ dedication and significant contributions since the company's inception and welcomes his ongoing involvement.
