Special Report: Smart building innovator ClearVue Technologies has entered the New Zealand market by signing a Manufacturing and Distribution Agreement with Viridian Glass, NZ’s premier glass processing company.

  • ClearVue signs agreement with Viridian Glass, NZ’s largest glass manufacturer
  • The three-year deal strengthens ClearVue’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region
  • It will also facilitate local manufacturing and distribution of ClearVue’s solar-integrated glazing solutions

The partnership will facilitate the local manufacturing and distribution of ClearVue’s (ASX:CPV) advanced solar-integrated glazing solutions, catering to the increasing demand for energy efficient and sustainable building materials.

Under the three-year deal, Viridian Glass has secured exclusive rights to manufacture ClearVue’s solar-integrated glazing products within NZ and distribution rights for ClearVue’s products and associated services across NZ.

By making ClearVue’s solar glazing technology locally available, the partnership opens new opportunities for NZ architects and builders to create energy-efficient, low-carbon buildings.

It is part of the company’s broader growth strategy to expand its manufacturing and distribution footprint globally.

What does ClearVue do?

ClearVue generates power from a clear glass window via nanoparticle interlayer to activate Ultraviolet and Infrared light as it passes through glass.

This reaction deflects the radiation to the edge of a window, allowing the energy to be harvested by solar cells within the frame of an Insulated Glass Unit (IGU).

The ClearVue technology can be applied within a window, skylight, curtain wall and other glass structures such as agrisolar greenhouses.

Its business model is to license core IP and know-how to existing glass fabricators around the world.

During Q3, the company expanded into South Korea and Africa, with each market offering unique commercialisation opportunities including ClearVue’s first commercial project with the World Bank.

Aligns with NZ’s net-zero strategies

CPV Global CEO Martin Deil said the company is excited to partner with Viridian Glass.

“This agreement represents a significant step in expanding ClearVue’s presence in the region and making our innovative solar glazing solutions more accessible to the New Zealand market,” he said.

“Our partnership aligns with New Zealand’s strong commitment to sustainability and net-zero energy building initiatives.”

New Zealand's net-zero energy building initiatives primarily focus on transitioning to low-emissions buildings and eventually achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

This involves phasing out fossil fuels in new buildings, investing in renewable energy sources, and implementing energy-efficient building practices.

Next-gen energy generating glazing solutions

Viridian Glass New Zealand CEO Nigel Rigby said partnering with ClearVue enables Viridian to bring next-generation energy generating glazing solutions to the country.

“Our customers are increasingly seeking sustainable and innovative building materials, and ClearVue’s technology allows us to meet that demand,” he said.

“At the same time, the New Zealand government’s commitment to renewable energy and energy efficient buildings presents a strong opportunity for ClearVue’s technology to contribute towards sustainable urban development while contributing meaningfully to a greener future.”
