MORE than 30 Tweed property owners and developers have offered to sell land to the NSW Government so the shire’s new hospital can be built.

An expression of interest period is open ahead of a site selection process to identify the best site for the new $534 million Tweed Hospital.

The government is searching for property from Tweed Heads South to Pottsville which is 10-15 kilometres inland with a developable area between eight to 16 hectares.

Overseeing the selection process is Charter Keck Cramer associate director Adam Puddy who said a shortlist would be developed ahead of the expression of interest deadline on September 22.

Following a due diligence period in October and November, Mr Puddy said he aimed to have a preferred site for the NSW Government by December.

Gold Coast-based Leda Holdings acquisition manager Richard Duce said he believed his site at the Kings Forest Development, just west of Casuarina and close to the Tweed Coast Road, was an ideal location.

“It’s a logical location, we have 4500 blocks going in there, it’s close to Tweed Coast Road and not too far from Pottsville,” Mr Duce said.

The NSW Government has also zoned the area for urban expansion.

Mr Duce said the preferred site could make up to $16 million.

“It would be hard to buy land for under $1 million per hectare in the area,” he said.
