A NEW laneway bar has been planned for Burleigh Heads, with a local restaurateur looking to expand his interests in the hip southern suburb.
Oliver Frost has submitted a development application for a bar directly beside his restaurant Maman, on James St.
According to development documents, the new bar is proposed to set 60 patrons, with more space for standing customers.
A hole-in-the-wall coffee or takeaway shop has also been proposed for the site, which will have two on-site parking spaces.

The proposal, for 47 James St, is directly beside Maman restaurant, which he co-owns with champion ironman Matt Poole, who is partner of social media sensation Tammy Hembrow.
Mr Frost, who did not return the Bulletin’s calls, is co-founder of The Grass is Greener Festival and his mother Karen Fines is co-owner of Burleigh burger bar Milky Lane.
The business also operates a Maman restaurant at Port Douglas.
The new bar is proposed to operate up to between 10am and midnight, seven days per week.
Mr Frost’s application comes after an uproar over a council proposal to remove more than 50 carparking spaces from James St during streetscaping.
The removal of the parks was flagged as part of a new master plan for Burleigh CBD before the light rail extension.
Stage 3 of the light rail between Broadbeach and Burleigh is under construction, despite continuing criticism from some vocal opponents.
