A LUXURY skyhome tower is set to rise just a handful of metres from one of the Gold Coast’s busiest beaches.
Developer JK Australia Developments is proposing a super-thin 21-storey tower to be built at Main Beach which would be one of the largest absolute beachfront accommodation centres for the suburb.
The tower would have just 17 units across its floors, including a two-level penthouse and sub-penthouse on its Main Beach Ave site, which is just 617 sqm
A development allocation for the project was submitted to the Gold Coast City Council this week and pitches it as a “rare opportunity to generate higher intensity development” on a “key beachfront site”.
According to the submitted plans it would feature 14 one-floor three bedroom units, a three bedroom sub-penthouse and the penthouse.
Each would have an average floor space of 325 sqm.
The “elegant” residential tower, like other projects recently proposed for Main Beach, will feature a fully automated underground stacker carpark with room for 44 vehicles.
Meanwhile, an application has also been lodged for a 48-storey tower in northern Southport.
The 355-unit project is earmarked for a 2427 sqm site on the corner of Marine Parade and Railway Street and has been put forward by developer Auscot Marine.
The mixed-use development would feature 683 bedrooms, and would have both residential and short-term accommodation offerings.
A ground-level commercial space which will feature food and drink outlets is also proposed.
Both developments are set to go before councillors for approval later this year.
