THE State Government has given the go-ahead for a new $500 million, 200m hotel and apartment tower at Jupiters Gold Coast.
Construction of the complex, a joint venture between The Star Entertainment Group and Chow Tai Fook and Far East Consortium, is expected to start next year, subject to successful apartment pre-sales.
Part of the ongoing transformation of the iconic Broadbeach property, the new tower will feature 700 keys — 300 hotel rooms and the property’s first-ever residential apartments.
Construction is expected to be completed by 2020.
The new complex is the first of up to five unveiled in the master plan Jupiters released earlier this year.
Jupiters is currently rolling out a $345 million refurbishment of the existing casino and construction of a new, six-star, 17-storey luxury hotel at the front of the property.
The new tower will include a new restaurant and bar concept, a day spa, an eighth floor recreation deck with ocean views and a resort pool for hotel guests, residential facilities and open spaces and tropical gardens designed to make the most of the city’s climate and lifestyle.
The Star Entertainment Group managing director and CEO Matt Bekier said Star and its partners have “great confidence” in the tourism outlook for Queensland.
“With increasing visitation forecasts out of Asia and China, together with strong domestic tourism figures, Queensland is well-placed to capture this growth but needs enhanced tourism product to meet the demand,” he said.
“Our vision is to continue to transform Jupiters into a truly integrated resort on the Gold Coast, and help position the tourism industry as an economic driver in Queensland.
“We are making an enduring commitment to South East Queensland through a long-term master plan for our Gold Coast property and a $3 billion investment at Queen’s Wharf Brisbane, both involving our Hong Kong based partners Chow Tai Fook and Far East Consortium.”
