Jewel milestone reached on Gold Coast for first of three towers

THE $1 billion beachfront Jewel towers project have reached a major milestone — and the owners couldn’t be more excited.

Jewel construction shifts up a gear

THE first of the three towers going up as part of the $1b beachfront Jewel development has reached its final height of 34 floors.

The project’s milestone was reached by the smallest of the three towers on the edge of the sand at Surfers Paradise on June 22.

Jimmy Huang, the director of Jewel’s owner Yuhu Group Australia, said the site construction was progressing as planned and the tallest tower would reach its 47-storey height next month. It is currently at 43 storeys while the second highest — eventually going to 41 levels — is at 39.

Jewel’s distinctive “glass curtain walling” had been installed to levels 28, 35 and 26 so far, which was also to plan, he said.

Mr Huang said the team was planning a “top-out ceremony” to mark structural completion.

“The topping out of the Jewel towers will represent a very proud moment for everyone who has been involved in this wonderful project. In terms of both architecture and construction this will be a major achievement. The crystal-inspired towers are all that we envisaged and will be uniquely iconic features of the Gold Coast skyline.

“It takes an incredible amount of hard work to make a project like this a reality and we have been so impressed by the energy and commitment. We are very fortunate for the levels of support we have received and can’t wait for the towers to reach their peak.”
