The inaugural group of finalists in the Fearless Innovator Grant Program has been announced, showcasing 10 of South Australia’s most inspiring female entrepreneurs.

The first crop of finalists in the new awards program includes business owners from a diverse array of industries, spanning artificial intelligence to education and the arts.

For example, Amelie Parker and Fiona Goodsite’s business Tutbob is an AI-based educational tool which aims to help university students understand, engage with, and retain lecture content.

The team previously won the overall prize in the 2023 Australian eChallenge Awards, which is run by the University of Adelaide’s business school.

“We want to empower all students in their learning by integrating Tutbob into Australian universities’ learning ecosystems,” Ms Goodsite said at the time.

“Tutbob is designed to help students understand the content by extracting and explaining key concepts, answering clarifying questions, and creating assisted notes, all in real-time.

“It creates a custom quiz at the end of a lecture for students to practice and retain the content.’’

Other grant program finalists include custom coil-winding company Coilteck Manufacturing, natural women’s health products company Olive & Bee and livestock genetics company ART Lab Solutions. The Fearless Innovator Grant Program, part of a two-yearpilot initiative, is designed to address the gender funding gap in the start-up ecosystem.

The finalists are competing for a total of six grants, including two grants of $30,000 and four of $10,000, aimed at helping them scale their businesses, develop prototypes, and pursue growth opportunities.

The finalists were announced at an event held at SkyCity on Thursday, hosted by former federal minister Amanda Vanstone. The winners will be announced at the Women in Innovation awards night on Friday, November 22, at the National Wine Centre.
