Group of friends scoops nearly $1 million in Lotto win
A group of friends who have been running a decade-long Lotto syndicate have finally had their numbers pay off with a nearly $1 million win.

A group of eight friends who have waited more than a decade for their Lotto numbers to pay off have scooped up nearly $1 million.
The phone lines between the group of old friends spread across Australia have been running red hot this morning after their decade-long private syndicate scored division one in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.
The group held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday night’s draw, with each entry taking home a prize of $989,632.50.
The syndicate leader couldn’t contain his joy at the thought of breaking the news to his friends.
“Wow, wow, wow! That’s fantastic. This is a very good phone call!” he exclaimed to a TattsLotto official this morning.
“This is a syndicate we’ve been running between a group of old friends for years and years and years.
“You’ve completely made my day. I can’t wait to phone my friends and tell them. They will be happy!
“As soon as I get off the phone to you I’m going to go and yell my head off I’m so excited!”
The overjoyed winner revealed the syndicate of eight friends had been running for more than a decade.
“Over 10 years ago we started the syndicate by all choosing a number, and we’ve been playing that system entry ever since,” he said.
“I’ve been telling them for years we’ll win it one day.
“I’ll use my share to pay off some bills and I’m sure my wife will want to spend some of it too. This has just made my day.”
The syndicate leader, who wanted to remain anonymous, bought the entry online.
The winning numbers in Saturday night’s draw were 19, 23, 35, 6, 28 and 24, while the supplementary numbers were 38 and 29.
Three winners were from Victoria and one from New South Wales.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 239 so far this calendar year, including 101 won by Tatts customers.
In the 12 months to June 30 this year, 244 division one winning TattsLotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions have collectively won more than $286.6 million.
There are more chances to win big with tomorrow night’s Oz Lotto offering $5 million, while Thursday’s Powerball has a huge $40 million up for grabs.
