Magic Millions kingpins Gerry Harvey and Katie Page have been given the Gold Coast’s top business honours as the couple mark 45 years together.

The couple, who lead national retail chain Harvey Norman, were inducted into the Gold Coast Business Hall of Fame on Saturday night, honouring their impact on the city since the 1980s, from sports to property development.

They were given a standing ovation from a crowd of more than 700 people at the 30th annual Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards gala, which was held at The Star.

Ms Page said both she and her husband were delighted to receive the award.

“The fact that it’s Gerry and I together is really important to us – no-one was game enough to give it to either one of us separately,” she said.

“It encompasses our 45 years together. It’s really important to us, and we’re so happy to be officially recognised alongside the individuals who have all contributed in an amazing way to make the Gold Coast what it is.”

Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards president Adam Twemlow said Mr Harvey and Ms Page had turned the Gold Coast during the Magic Millions into one of the “must-attend destinations for thoroughbred racing excellence and world-class calendar of equine sporting events”.

He highlighted the economic impact of the carnival, putting $50m into the city’s coffers annually.

“The Magic Millions Yearling Sale and Raceday has now grown to become one of the world’s premier international equine sporting and lifestyle events, attracting buyers, breeders, celebrities, and tourists from around the world,’’ he said.

“The event has boosted the Gold Coast’s reputation as a luxury tourism and equine sporting and thoroughbred racing hub and (Saturday’s) induction is timely, as the Magic Millions Sales celebrates its 40th Anniversary in January 2026.

“The event showcases the Gold Coast as not only a holiday destination but also a luxury lifestyle hub, mixing sport, fashion, and entertainment.”

The Saturday night awards saw Helensvale-based company SEE Group named the Gold Coast’s business of the year, having previously won it in 2024.

The infrastructure and urban development company, founded by brothers Brian and Bruce Turner, works in civil engineering, quarrying, mining and fleet management.

SEE also won the construction and trades gong.

Mr Twemlow said it was only the second time a company had won in consecutive years, following Zaraffas in 2007 and 2008.

“In 2025 we had hundreds of entries, and our dedicated judging panel certainly had a challenging task choosing the winners,’’ he said.

“The debate in the final judging was particularly extensive although all the judges were really excited about the chosen winners.

“The Gold Coast, while its roots was originally agriculture and then tourism and construction, is emerging as a powerhouse in a diverse range of industries.

“It is in no way surprising to me that the city has had the fastest growing economy of all cities in Australia for the past two years.”
