A 24-YEAR-OLD self-taught swimwear designer has been named 2019 Gold Coast Business Woman of the Year.

Jasmin Young, the founder of Summer/Addiction Swimwear, took out the top gong at the annual Gold Coast Girls in Business Gala Awards Night.

Inspired by her hometown, Ms Young created the lifestyle label when she was 22, launching with a signature bikini top that could be worn five ways.

“As a born-and-bred Gold Coaster, I grew up in the bikini capital of the world,” she said.

“My business is definitely inspired by my lifelong love affair with the beach and all things summer. Swimwear is one of the most competitive industries in the fashion market.

“I’ve always loved swimwear, but could never find the perfect bikini that was supportive, stylish and flattering in all the right places.”

Ms Young said she aimed to promote positive body image by donating $1 from every bikini sale to The Butterfly Foundation to help with their prevention and early intervention strategies of negative body image and eating disorders.
