THE redevelopment plans for the site of Burleigh Heads’ famed Fish House restaurant envisions a nine-level skyhome-style tower in its place.

Developer South East Developments Brisbane wants to demolish the existing Goodwin Terrace building and replace it.

There will be one unit per floor, according to plans filed with the council, with just eight three-bedroom apartments across the whole development.

A swimming pool and gym will also be built as part of the complex.

A basement carpark will contain 18 car spaces, including two for visitors.

The Gold Coast Bulletin last month revealed development plans were in the works for the site.

The Fish House surfaced in Burleigh in 2012 under the stewardship of restaurateur Simon Gloftis, who rebuilt an old house with the approval of the site’s owners.

The Fish House was renowned for its levels of service, a Gloftis trademark.

Mr Gloftis, the man behind Hellenika Greek restaurant, took a 20-year lease on the property in 2013 and sold the business, and lease, to Brisbane developer Ron Tarabay in 2016 in a deal mooted to be worth close to $2 million.

This latest project is the second low-rise tower planned for the street.

The property immediately to the east was bought by developer Synergy which is redeveloping the site.

Plans have been filed with council for an eight-storey tower which will contain 21 three-bedroom units and will overlook famous Burleigh Beach and headland.

The property is currently occupied by Rosyln, a 1960s era low-rise building, and a short walk from the planned stage 3A of the Gold Coast light rail, which will terminate near the intersection of Goodwin Terrace and the Gold Coast Highway.
