ONE of the Gold Coast’s busiest fast food restaurants is set for a major revamp which will see a huge dining deck built.
A development application has been submitted to the Gold Coast City Council to expand the Hungry Jacks on Southport’s Ferry Road.
According to the plans, the small eat-in restaurant and drive through will gain an outdoor dining deck which will overlook the busy arterial road.
“The outdoor dining area will be accessed internally via the existing restaurant area by way of the introduction of new sliding doors,” a planning report on the project said.
“An external staircase will provide access to the first floor deck area, screened by way of a new timber-look aluminium batten screen that reflects the design attributes of the existing building.
“The deck area will be supported by decorative, structural steel columns, finished with glass balustrade and stainless steel handrail, resulting in a modern yet contemporary look.”
It is the latest addition to Ferry Road’s fast food eatery boom of recent years which saw it dubbed “the golden mile”.
A KFC and Taco Bell both opened within 500m of the Hungry Jacks location in the past year.
It comes just two weeks after developer Potter Group unveiled plans for a new KFC at Burleigh Heads.
