A ROW of suburban houses near one of the Gold Coast’s biggest shopping centres is set to be replaced by high-end units.

Developer Emily Xu wants to build seven units along Mermaid Waters’ Le Mans Drive, directly south of Pacific Fair.

The three-bedroom units would take up a 1692 sqm site which currently has two houses fronting the canal system.

There will be 21 bedrooms across the unit block, with each unit receiving two undercover carparks.

Each of the units will have a private yard.
