KIRRA is set to be the big winner when a new development comes to the Gold Coast.
A new tower in the beachside suburb will have a special feature unlike anything that has been seen before. And they say it will bring in the tourists.
A developer has come up with a novel idea to make its proposed Gold Coast tower a tourist landmark — a giant art work to encourage selfies.
Developer LGOC Nikkiville has pitched The Photo Moment — a five-metre tall installation — as part of the design for a 13-storey residential tower for Kirra’s Miles Street.

“People will stop, look, talk about, and visit the installation,” a planning report on the project read. “They will debate on the history of the artist, and claim they know them.

“Social media will embrace it as a backdrop and people will fall in love with Kirra. Again. “This is an opportunity reinforce Kirra’s international standing on the world stage.”
According to plans lodged with council on Monday, the tower will be built on a 1524sq m site and will have 72 units of two and three bedrooms, plus two townhouses.
The tower’s design has been inspired by the “rhythm and movement of rolling waves”.
“The reduced setback to the frontage allows for landscaping as well as the opportunity for a public art piece to this wall, again remaining ‘hyper local’ to Kirra’s character.”
