A HISTORIC Gold Coast hotel is getting a modern new look and a rooftop bar.
A development application has been filed with the Gold Coast City Council to build the rooftop facility at the Palm Beach Hotel.
The 148 sqm roof will operate from 6.30am to 2am, allowing it to be used by patrons as a breakfast venue as well as for late night drinks.
A meeting was held in May with council planning staff who expressed in-principal support for the extension to the hotel, which overlooks the expected future route of the Gold Coast Light Rail.
It is the latest in a series of rooftop bars proposed for the Coast in recent years.
