AN empty block of land next to one of the Gold Coast’s biggest shopping centres is set to be transformed, with plans for a giant townhouse complex.

Developer Muyao Investment has filed plans with the Gold Coast City Council for a 142-unit development on Coomera’s Foxwell Road.

The 30,120 sqm site is close to the Westfield Coomera complex

The townhouses will be created in 40 buildings which will range in height between two and three storeys.

According to documents filed with the council, it will be built in four stages.

“The units are proposed within a variation of two and three storey ‘plexes’, with the three-storey buildings being situated generally where they are cut into the ground, to minimise the heights above ground level, or to maximise views to the coast line and city,” the report to councillors said.

“The resulting built form is one of quite high intensity, reflective of a site on the edge of the high-density residential zone and transitioning down to a medium density precinct on the eastern side of Shipper Drive.”

The project will go before councillors later this year.
