A LUXURY unit tower with a design said to have been inspired by a pine cone is planned for a site next to one of the Gold Coast’s most famous restaurants and opposite an iconic surf break.
Queensland Development and Town Planning Services has filed a proposal for an eight-storey building on Burleigh Heads’ Goodwin Terrace, next to the famous Fish House that was originally launched by hospitality identity Simon Gloftis.
Under the proposal, lodged with the council today, the building will contain 21 three-bedroom units and will overlook famous Burleigh Beach and headland.
It is earmarked for a 1014 sq m site next to Rudd Park. The property is currently occupied by Rosyln, a 1960s era low-rise building, and a short walk from the planned stage 3A of the Gold Coast light rail, which will terminate near the intersection of Goodwin Terrace and the Gold Coast Highway.

The project is close to a series of 1980s-era towers of up to 19 storeys and the historic Burleigh De-Luxe arcade.
Designed by architecture firm Koichi Takada, the proposed unit tower has been described as a “celebration of the surrounding natural heritage and beachfront views”

“The form of the pine cone is replicated on the organic form of the balconies, similar to the overlapping scales. The naturally inspired forms offer generous shading to the private outdoor areas,” a town planning report said.
“The concept of the pine cone continues to inspire the rest of the building.”
