Gold Coast development: Changes planned for Meriton’s Ocean 74-storey supertower in Surfers Paradise

THE incredible view from the top floors of the Gold Coast’s newest supertower can be revealed as its developer prepares to break ground.
The Ocean tower on The Esplanade in Surfers Paradise has been put forward by Meriton’s ‘high-rise’ Harry Triguboff, and is expected to begin construction in the near future.

But changes are still being made to the project, with a fresh development application submitted this week proposing changes to the tower.
A roof-level plant and equipment on the 74th storey will be scrapped and replaced by an additional residential floor.
Under the plans The mix of the 722 units will also change, with the number of two and three bedroom units being slashed by 141 while the number of units allocated to short-term accommodation have been dramatically increased by more than 140.

Overall it will mean there are an extra 35 bedrooms across the project.
It’s not the first time the development’s design has been altered.
In May Mr Triguboff’s company Karimbla Properties submitted an altered design for the giant tower, including a new supermarket, and a pool on the podium level.

Once completed it would be the fourth-tallest building on the Gold Coast behind the under-construction Spirit, Q1 and Soul.
Ocean is planned for a 3833 sq m site on the Esplanade which Meriton group bought for $58 million last year.
The tower which formerly stood on the site has since been demolished.
