CONSTRUCTION is well underway on the Gold Coast’s next supertower.
The 74-storey Ocean supertower, from veteran developer “high rise” Harry Triguboff is moving quickly, with the building set to be completed by early 2022.
Once completed, it will become the Gold Coast’s second-tallest tower and Meriton’s largest in the state.

But as building works speed up, the interior layout of the development continues to change.
Meriton has filed a revised development application to alter elements of its multi-level podium.
Chief among them is a proposed childcare centre which will be built on the tower’s sixth level.

It will have room for up to 70 children, including 15 place for those aged between newborns and two years, 15 places for those aged between two and three years and 20 places each for children aged three to four and four to five years.
Other changes include:
* Alterations to the layout of the entry lobbies.
* The removal of two food and drink outlet tenancies which will be replaced by a single retail space.
* A slight increase in the floorspace of an already approved cafe on the ground level.
The Gold Coast Bulletin earlier this year revealed that Mr Triguboff was pushing for construction of the tower to move faster.
The veteran founder of the Meriton group said that he had told his building team to be more vigorous and complete at least one apartment every day.
“Ocean’s our biggest tower ever in Queensland and it’s going to be our best,” he told Bulletin columnist Quentin Tod in March.

“It’s also by far the most challenging ever for Meriton in construction terms but my builders have nailed the hard part and within a short time it will be a case of the sky’s the limit.
“The sooner Ocean sticks its head up, the sooner buyers will be able to see that it’s happening — and it will be happening quickly.”
Mr Triguboff said as part of the move to hasten Ocean’s arrival, the number of on-site staff had been doubled to 120.
Once the tower’s podium was completed there could be up to 600 workers on the site.
