A GIANT seven-storey business hub will be built as part of a multi-million expansion of one of the Gold Coast’s best-known shopping centres.
Scentre Group, the owner of Westfield, wants to build the complex as the latest expansion of the Helensvale Town Centre site.

It will be built on the southeastern side of the shopping centre near Helensvale Railway Station.
A development application filed this morning reveals the development will feature:
* a “considerable” public plaza and a pedestrian link from the site to the Westfield Helensvale shopping centre.
* Three retail shops and two restaurants.
* More than 800 sqm of office space.
* A 452 sqm function centre.
* 280 carparks.

The project was designed by architecture firm Cottee Parker.
According to documents filed with the Gold Coast City Council, the office space has been “designed to be flexible and suit a range of tenant sizes with the potential for segmented design across all levels.”

“This area aims to activate the frontage to Town Centre Drive and create space for people to interact and relax. The public plaza will ensure the space is more than just a thoroughfare and connection to Westfield Helensvale through the pedestrian link,” the report said.
The project will go before councillors for approval later this year.
