A LUXURY whole-floor apartment project plan in Broadbeach has been scaled down following opposition from residents in neighbouring buildings.
Plans were lodged in February for Sand Broadbeach, now renamed Beach House Broadbeach, by Andrews Projects at 120 Old Burleigh Rd next to the Eclipse and La Grande buildings.
It was originally slated for an 18 storey building with 15 luxury apartments but ran into opposition from residents in the neighbouring buildings who objected to what they called minimal setbacks and adverse visual and amenity impacts from the building.
Andrews, through Zone Planning Group, has relodged the plans trimming the number of levels by four to 14 and apartments by three to 12. The site coverage for the 570sq m block has also been reduced from 54.7 per cent to 50.3 per cent.
After opposition from planning officers from the Gold Coast City Council, Andrews has increased the setbacks, including on the southern boundary, to protect the amenity of adjoining residents.
Council officers are due to issue their decision on the application by October 21.
