THE Gold Coast's Sheraton Mirage resort has undergone a $26 million refurbishment that encompasses all its facilities and brings a contemporary look to its 295 rooms and suites.
Major facilities to have undergone transformation in the upgrade include the Pearls Bar, Terraces Restaurant, and Oasis pool area, as well as Link@Sheraton and the hotel's meeting and event venues.
The refurbishment also has embraced the lobby, reception area, lifts, porte cochere, entry area, corridors, and landscaping.
The hotel's premier guest facility, its 185sq m Royal Suite, has been given an impressive makeover and now features the work of acclaimed designers Ralph Lauren and Christopher Guy.
Pieces from Christopher Guy's collection include an ornate stone-top entry console and high-back leather upholstered dining chairs to complement a classic dining table, while the suite's master bedroom features a Ralph Lauren Modern Hollywood Bed with black leather base and silver studding.
Other additions to the suite -- where a second bedroom is available on request -- include a modern fireplace, rain shower, dual vanities, and plunge bath.
The Terraces Restaurant, which hosts the hotel's acclaimed seafood buffet, boasts new furniture and polished marble and stone finishes, while its Pearls Bar, with ocean views, which was previously known as Breakers Bar, has been transformed into a lounge with designer furnishings where guests can enjoy a high tea by day and a cocktail by night.
The refurbishment also has seen the resort's lagoon area transformed into a tropical oasis and modern furnishings and nautical-theme sculptural artwork installed in its lobby and porte cochere.
The transformation also includes an updated street frontage, water features, lavastone driveways, new signage and exterior decorative features.
It has been undertaken by Sheraton Mirage property owner the New Delhi-based Pearls Group, which acquired the property in 2009 from receivers to the Raptis Group for $62.5 million and unveiled plans for the upgrade in 2011.
