TICKETS for the Gold Coast’s biggest new event will go on sale in February as organisers try to lure in a crowd of more than 150,000 people.
The inaugural Australian leg of the Pacific Airshow will be held above Surfers Paradise beach from August 18-20 next year.
While the event will be free to watch from the beach, tickets will be needed for the grandstands and hospitality areas which will be built on the sand overlooking the water.
Event founder Kevin Elliott said the tickets would go on sale on February 1.
“There is something for everyone, so if you want a private cabana to enjoy with friends we have them, but if you prefer to relax on the beach with your family and enjoy the sky show while taking a dip a family ticket is for you,” he said.
“For those who want the ultimate high-end experience, you can spoil yourself or treat your business clients with fully catered VIP corporate chalets and premium cuisine.”
Organisers say the “Indy in the air” will inject at least $25m into the Gold Coast economy, lure up to 150,000 tourists and boost the city’s quiet late winter events calendar.
Mr Elliott said an American leg of the airshow had also proven to be a magnet for military recruitment and he expected the same to happen here.
“Pacific Airshow Gold Coast will be powerfully inspiring, especially for young people considering a career in aviation or the military,” he said.
“Our Defence Force colleagues in the United States have told us that there was a massive spike in inquiries for people interested in joining the military after our Huntington Beach Airshow and I believe it will be similar here.”
