Only Fans: Gold Coast’s Teagan Kaye goes from unemployed to cashed-up model

FOR Teagan Kaye OnlyFans is more than a website to sell X-rated photos – it’s a stepping stone to building a dream career.

The 20-year-old from the Gold Coast started using the online subscription site about six months ago when she was without work.

“I started because I couldn’t find a job. I thought I would give it a go for a month and it went really, really well,” she told the Bulletin.

Ms Kaye was tight-lipped on her weekly earnings, but revealed she is among the top 2.2% of creators earning money on the site.

“I used to work at Subway and got $200 a week. When I started Only Fans, I made about $1000 to $2000 on the first day.

“That was crazy for me. I had never earned so much money in a day.”

OnlyFans is a social media platform where users can upload content, including X-rated content, and sell subscriptions for those to see.

Ms Kaye posts her original content about four to six times a week and experienced a surge in subscribers as the coronavirus pandemic set in.

She’s among millions now using the platform.

Globally, OnlyFans which launched in 2017, has seen a 75 per cent increase in sign-ups comprising creators and consumers, totalling more than 26 million users worldwide.

Ms Kaye says although some people use the site to earn an income from nude photos and videos, she’s doing it for different reasons.

“I know the site has a bit of a stigma around it. People think it’s just for porn but people use it for different reasons,” Ms Kaye said.

“I do nudity work but it’s done with professional photographers.

“I feel like there is a fine line of doing something more artistic and tasteful rather than just nudes on iPhones.

“I want to make sure if (photos) ever leak, it won’t affect my career.

“I do behind the scene videos and things a bit different to what I post on Instagram.

“Say if I was in lingerie and it’s see-through, I can’t post that on Instagram.

“I would say it’s more exclusive content. This platform (OnlyFans) gives me a place I can do that.”

Aside from Only Fans, Ms Kaye mostly does bikini modelling for work.

“I started with the motive of money because I couldn’t find work. But now, money is just part of it,” she said.

“It‘s given me the opportunity to focus on modelling.

“I use all the money I’m getting from (OnlyFans) to invest in my modelling career and travel to places for work like LA.

“I really do enjoy it. It’s a really awesome site. And the community on there is really cool.”

Ms Kayee says her friends and family are supportive of her.

“My parents are quite supportive. Sometimes there is a generational gap which might be hard for them to understand but they completely respect what I’m doing.

“I’ve wanted to be a model since I was three. My whole family knows that.

“I want to be successful. It’s not really a money motive,” she said.

“I see Only Fans as more of a stepping stone to help me get there.”
