The Gold Coast's love affair with fast food venues is growing, with construction beginning on another McDonalds.
The first sod has been turned on the venue at a site at Ormeau’s Eggersdorf Road which will be operated by licensee Caroline Ting who already has four other McDonald’s franchises, including at Ormeau and Stapylton.
Ms Ting began working for the fast food giant as a trainee 35 years ago and said the new venue would inject more than $6.85m in to the economy.
“We are excited to start construction on a new restaurant in the Gold Coast and create 100 construction jobs, as well as a further 120 operational jobs once the restaurant opens,” she said.
“McDonald’s Ormeau South is committed to playing an active role in the local community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities, as well as supporting local causes and groups that are important to our customers and people.
“We look forward to serving up our great tasting, great quality menu once the restaurant opens later this year.”
It comes just six weeks after construction began on another McDonalds venue at the Pimpama City centre on Pimpama Jacobs Well Rd.
It will be the sixth operated by licensee Michael Power, who joined McDonald’s as a crew member 48 years ago.
