A former radio DJ and real estate agent whose companies have left a trail of debts around Australia, has been charged with fraud.
Police confirmed Luke Hemmings – who has also been known as Dene Broadbelt, Lucas Hemmings, Dene Musillon, Dene Morgan, Harrison O’Connor, Harrison Eyles, Nic Lloyd and Clay O’Connor – had been charged with three fraud offences relating to dishonestly inducing delivery of property worth at least $100,000.
Mr Hemmings, 30, was arrested after a search warrant at the Southport office of his Whitefox Recruitment firm and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 8.
Police declined to provide further details about the fraud allegations.
A company called Lambert Willcox Group, which was directed by Mr Hemmings and traded as Whitefox Recruitment Canberra, was wound up by a court over a $170,000 debt.
Mr Hemmings’ previous recruitment company Coceptive Recruitment, which also traded as Whitefox Recruitment Canberra, went into liquidation owing $760,000 in 2021.
The Gold Coast Bulletin does not suggest that the charges relate to the companies.
Mr Hemmings used selfies with celebrities – including TV hosts and a PR queen – in a bizarre paid article about himself on a Canberra website last year.
But the media personalities – including high-profile ex-breakfast show hosts Samantha Armytage and David Koch – say they don’t know him.
Asked about the prolific publicity around his previous ventures, Mr Hemmings has denied any of it was true.
