The seven richest people on the Gold Coast have been revealed as a mix of construction, fashion and property heavyweights, who between them have more than $40bn in wealth.
Meriton property scion Harry Triguboff, who divides his time between Sydney and his Main Beach penthouse and boasts with $20.81 billion wealth, was comfortably named the nation’s sixth richest person in The List: Australia’s Richest 250, published on Friday.

Controversial Sovereign Islands resident, mining magnate and aspiring politician Clive Palmer placed seventh on The List with $18.35 billion after doubling his wealth for the second year running
Other local names making the top 250 included Marina Mirage owner Con Makris and his family, who came in 123rd with wealth of $1.03bn; Usher Group founder Phil Usher in 204th place with $624m; and Adco Constructions owner Judith Brinsmead in 246th spot with $519m.
Culture Kings founders Simon and Tah-Nee Beard debuted at numbers 247 and 248.
Mr Makris paid $52m for Marina Mirage in 2013 and followed up the investment by paying $65 million for the retail and office precinct below The Oracle twin towers at Broadbeach the following year.
Mr Usher is head of residential developer and builder Phillip Usher Constructions, whose projects have included the H2O and Sky apartment buildings in Southport, as well as houses and townhouses nationwide.
The business has almost $500 million in assets on its balance sheet, including a substantial pastoral business encompassing about 1.2 million hectares of cattle properties across five Queensland stations, according to The List.
Ms Brinsmead oversees a construction business that has completed more than 3500 projects worth almost $15 billion in 50 years of operation.
ADCO made a $32 million pre-tax profit from $900 million revenue last year. The Brinsmead family also owns the Tropical Fruit World farm and tourism attraction in northern NSW.
With combined wealth topping half a billion dollars, the Beards founded Culture Kings with a single Gold Coast store 13 years ago.
They last year sold their majority stake in it for $600 million and rewarded themselves with some of the Gold Coast’s most expensive properties, including the record-breaking $15.25 million Soul penthouse and Surfers Paradise mega mansion Riverpoint, which they bought for $11.75 million, and plan to dramatically expand into the next block.

Gina Rinehart tops the 2022 list with a massive $32.64 billion wealth. Fellow mining magnate Andrew Forrest comes in a close second with wealth of $31.77 billion.
Anthony Pratt is number three with $27.77bn wealth while Atlassian co-founders Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar are fourth and fifth with wealth of $26.20 billion and $25.99 billion.
The total wealth on the 2022 list is a combined $520.20 billion, in 2021 it was $470.07 billion.
The List reveals the rich have become richer, with average wealth at $2.08 billion, up from $1.88 billion, and there are 131 billionaires.
The number of women on the 250-strong list is 30 – last year there were 27.
The highest money-making sectors from the list are property (59), technology (29), investment (28), retail (27), mining (22), manufacturing (14), healthcare (13), financial services (12), agriculture (10), and construction (10).
The List: Australia’s Richest 250 is the biggest annual study of Australia’s wealthiest individuals and living philanthropists undertaken in this country.
Its editor John Stensholt said technology was heralding a shift from “old” industries such as mining and manufacturing to newer online sectors, bringing significant change to the ranks of the country’s wealthiest individuals.
“It has also helped create a record number of new names on The List, with 29 debutants,” he said.
“Despite the pandemic, some sectors – retail in particular – have done incredibly well and created a surge in new wealth on The List.
“It’s been fun uncovering the new names coming up among the old guard of The List and sharing their stories.”
