PLENTY of buyers are throwing their hats into the rink to buy a Gold Coast warehouse that is the home of the city’s ice rink.

PLENTY of buyers are throwing their hats into the rink for a Gold Coast warehouse that is being put under the hammer.

The property at 15 Strathaird Rd in the Bundall industrial precinct comprises a 1792sq m building which has been home to Gold Coast Iceland since 1996.

The building contains a large ice-skating rink, kiosk and function rooms on the mezzanine level and features 42 on-site car parks.

Gold Coast Iceland is more than two years into a five-year lease and pays rent of $142,109 a year plus GST with increases aligned to the consumer price index. It also holds two five-year options.

The property at 15 Strathaird Rd, Bundall, which is occupied by an ice-skating rink and will go under the hammer next month.

The property is being sold by a trust, which acquired it for $300,000 in 1981. It is due to be taken to auction on May 25.

Jared Johnson and Lachlan Marshall of Ray White White Industrial are the marketing agents.

Mr Marshall said the property had attracted strong interest from investors with 11 inquiries fielded since the campaign was launched.

“The big attraction is the tenant, who has been there for 20 years and is not going anywhere,” he said.

“There is also development potential in the future so a buyer can come in, collect the income and redevelop down the track.”

The property is zoned for mixed-use (fringe business) activities including business, retail, residential, tourist accommodation and associated services, service industry and low-impact industrial.
