You can buy a gun that looks like an iPhone

COPS are on edge as a handgun that looks exactly like an Apple iPhone — at half the price — is set to hit the market.

Why Kirk Kjellberg invented a gun that looks like a smartphone

THIS terrifying iPhone-styled hand gun could be about to infiltrate the streets, police have warned.

Officials have been told to hunt for the 9mm double-barrelled “iPhone Gun” that will soon go on sale in the US, The Sun reports.

It’s feared the .380-caliber handgun, currently available for pre-order, will be imported to European criminals, as officials struggle to control the borders amid terror fears.

The pistol folds up to look exactly like a smartphone with a bulky cover, but at $US395 ($525), it’s cheaper than an actual iPhone.

Makers IDEAL Conceal have already received 12,000 pre-orders.

“The idea for IDEAL Conceal follows the present-day demand for handguns that people can carry on a day-to-day basis, in a manner that makes carrying a gun easy to do,” the company says on its website. “From soccer mums to professionals of every type, this gun allows you the option of not being a victim.”

The gun reportedly fires high-velocity ammunition, meaning it can be discharged with speed. It also does not have to be cocked before being fired.

A warning sent around Belgian police networks noted that no guns had been spotted yet, according to the Dernière Heure newspaper. But that could be about to change.

It read: “To the eye, nothing can distinguish it from a mobile telephone. Most people possess a smartphone, meaning that it can pass completely overlooked.”

The Minnesota company boasted on its Facebook page: “Smartphones are everywhere, so your new pistol will easily blend in with today’s environment. In its locked position it will be virtually undetectable because it hides in plain sight.”
