A BEACHFRONT apartment tower that was set to be Broadbeach’s tallest and most elite is being shrunk to make it even more exclusive.
Class Broadbeach, which was to be 54-storeys, is to be reduced to 33 levels in what is the latest example of developers zeroing in on wealthy buyers wanting space and privacy.
John Kubatov, a Brisbane real estate principal who is overseeing the project, this week said the planned building had been renamed Luxe Broadbeach and was intended to provide ‘six-star beach sky-homes’.
He said the tower, designed by DBI, would have art deco influences.
“The building’s aimed at people who don’t want to compromise on space or luxury and want a city-type lifestyle that meets nature.
“Our site, with the beach and ocean on the doorstep, is an astounding one.”
Luxe is earmarked for a 756sq m property on the corner of Old Burleigh Rd and Charles Ave and which is occupied by ageing low-rise Kurrawa Lodge.
The new tower if approved, will sit in front of the eastern tower in The Oracle and be adjacent to the Oasis shopping centre.
It will have 26 full-floor four-bedroom apartments, all with en suites, a media room, wine cellar, butler’s pantry and large oceanfront balconies.
A two-floor, five-bedroom penthouse will include a rooftop entertaining and recreation area.
There will be two levels of basement parking and two levels above ground, with each apartment allocated at least three parks.
Mr Kubatov said three of the apartments already were spoken for – by the three couples who between them own the seven Kurrawa Lodge apartments.
They are Mr Kubatov and partner Cheryl Neale, the Tyquin family of Mt Ommaney, and Jack and Marg Hardy, of Sydney.
Mr Kubatov said the decision to reduce the size of the planned tower was a result of research that showed many buyers, including those from ‘down south’, wanted to be in boutique buildings.
“They don’t want to compromise on space and quality and don’t want to live where resident numbers are high.
“They also want lifestyle and Luxe will provide things such as a 25-metre heated lap pool, yoga room and gymnasium.”
The Luxe Broadbeach move comes on the heels of plans for an upmarket 37-level tower being unveiled at Main Beach, one with solely full-floor apartments and a penthouse and with multiple floors of resident facilities.
