ARTHUR Lowe, an 88-year-old former owner of the Horizon Shores marina, has become the new owner of the Labrador property that houses Richard Cavill’s restaurant Cav’s Steakhouse.

The Yorkshire-born Arthur’s Aelone entity has paid $7.5 million for Richard’s 4426sqm Frank St property, which is earmarked for a 13-level mixed-use tower, Inspire.

It’s believed a Brisbane developer will undertake the actual project, which is to include a Cav’s Emporium in its retail area.

CON OFFLOADS HOTEL CONDO

CON Makris, South Australian billionaire and Marina Mirage owner shopping centre owner, has sold one of his two condos in the adjacent Palazzo Versace hotel.

The rooftop three-bedroom apartment was listed at $3.1 million but the agent who’s sold it, fellow Versace resident Duncan Longmore, won’t disclose the price or the buyer.

A year or so ago Con bought a mid-level penthouse which management-rights veteran Frank Picone was marketing at $5.5 million in the company-title condos.

GOLF CLUB SINKS ‘MERGER’ PLAN

A MOVE instigated by the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club to explore “integrating” with the Southport Golf Club is more than just bunkered – it’s dead in the water.

The Southport club has ended discussions with the private Hope Island-based club after deciding the end game of the approach was a takeover.

The Cove’s approach was made prior to Christmas and, when revealed to members in early January, described as a move to give the two clubs a “sustainable” future.
