Victoria records 1003 new local cases of coronavirus, 14 deaths

Victoria has recorded 1003 new local cases of coronavirus on Wednesday, while 14 more Victorians have died with the virus.

Victoria has recorded 1003 new locally acquired Covid-19 infections on Wednesday and 14 more deaths.

There are 471 Victorians in hospital — 84 of those in intensive care and 46 on a ventilator.

A total of 71,601 tests were processed on Tuesday.

About 84.5 per cent of Victorians aged older than 12 are fully vaccinated and 92.7 per cent have received their first jab.

Meanwhile north of the Yarra, NSW posted 216 new local Covid-19 infections and three deaths on Wednesday.

About 90.1 per cent of the state’s population older than 16 were fully vaccinated, while 94 per cent had received one jab.

In Victoria, the 90 per cent double-dose vaccination rate was predicted to be achieved about November 24.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews previously flagged that there would be “no caps anywhere” beyond that date.

“There will be no density limits anywhere,” he said.

“Masks will only be required in high-risk indoor settings, such as public transport, prisons, hospitals, aged care, to give you some examples.

”I want to see 80,000 plus people at the Boxing (Day) Test on day one.

“It won’t be easy, but we are very confident, very, very confident that we will be able to deliver that.”
