NSW has recorded 301 new virus cases ahead of new freedoms tomorrow

Five of the ten people who died of Covid-19 in NSW overnight had not been vaccinated, health authorities have confirmed.

Five of the ten people who died from Covid-19 in NSW overnight were not vaccinated, health authorities have revealed.

The revelation comes after the state recorded another 301 new cases of Covid-19 overnight.

NSW Health confirmed the 10 deaths – five men and five women.

Three people were from south western Sydney, two people were from southern Sydney, two people were from south eastern Sydney, one person was from the Central Coast, one person was from the Newcastle area, and one person was from the Cessnock area.

Five people of those people were not vaccinated.

One person had received one vaccine dose and four people had were fully-vaccinated.

Of the recorded deaths, three elderly people – a woman in her 80s from south western Sydney, a man in his 80s from south eastern Sydney and a man in his 90s at the Southern Cross Care Daceyville aged care centre – died in separate hospitals.

NSW Health confirmed all three had underlying health conditions.

The woman in her 80s was the only one among the trio not vaccinated.

The man in his 80s was fully vaccinated and the man in his 90s had received one dose of the vaccine.

The numbers come after NSW reached its critical 80 per cent vaccination target on Saturday, becoming the first state in Australia to achieve the double-dose milestone.

This means more freedoms are on the cards from Monday, aside from regional travel which has been pushed back to November 1.

Among the eased restrictions include increasing the number of people allowed at indoor and outdoor gatherings, removing density limits at businesses like hair salons and allowing more people to attend weddings and funerals.
