A man allegedly kicked down the door to his girlfriend’s home just minutes before she was killed in a fatal car accident nearby.

A man allegedly kicked down his girlfriend’s door and made threats only minutes before she was killed in a fatal car accident nearby.

Tania Murphy, 36, and three passengers were killed in the crash near Leeton, in the NSW Riverina region, on Tuesday night.

The car she was driving hit a pole and rolled down an embankment before landing roof down in a water channel about 11.15pm on Tuesday.

Fifteen minutes before the crash, her boyfriend Dean Cluney allegedly kicked down the rear door of her home on Cudgel St in Yanco.

Police allege a resident was allegedly threatened inside the home.

Mr Cluney was arrested on Wednesday during a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident which killed his girlfriend.

The 32-year-old was charged with two counts of stalking or intimidating someone with the intention of causing them to fear harm and one charge of aggravated break and enter.

Mr Cluney’s matter was mentioned in Griffith Local Court on Thursday, but he did not apply for bail.

He will remain in custody until he returns to court in June.

A 50-year-old woman was also arrested on Wednesday but has since been released without charge.

No charges have been laid in relation to the deadly crash.

It’s understood the Hyundai Getz left the road near the intersection of Research Road and Toorak Road in Yanco.

Ms Murphy and the three passengers died at the scene before paramedics could arrive.

Loved ones have remembered her as a loving woman and great friend.

“She was just a wonderful person, would do anything for her family,” a close friend told NCA NewsWire.

“Nothing sort of got her down, she just loved life, she was a great friend.

“I think she’s going to be sadly missed.”

Ms Murphy leaves behind a daughter who was not in the car at the time of the crash.

“I just feel so sorry for all the family members that are involved in it, especially that tiny little girl,” Ms Murphy’s friend said.

“It’s a tragedy that’s happened and she’ll be sadly missed by a lot of people.”

Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Tracy Chapman said police remained on the scene through the day.

“At the end of the day, this is a tragic set of circumstances,” she told reporters.

“Our thoughts go out to their family and friends, and members of the community.”

Officers from the Murrumbidgee Police District established a crime scene which has been examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The road where the crash occurred is surrounded by agricultural land.
