Covid numbers Australia: NSW records 8782 cases, Victoria 5046

The latest Covid figures show that five states have recorded a fall in cases today.

Five states have recorded a fall in new Covid cases on Sunday, latest health data reveals.

Victoria has recorded a drop in people dying with Covid, while NSW’s hospitalisations have risen slightly.

In Victoria, 5046 new infections and four Covid deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.

This was down from the 5721 cases announced on Saturday and 24 deaths.

There were 219 infected people in Victorian hospitals, with 27 in intensive care and seven on ventilators.

More than 94 per cent of eligible Victorians are at least double vaccinated and the state has 39,451 active cases.

A total of 15,151 PCR tests were taken and 5857 vaccines were administered at state hubs.

NSW had 8782 new infections detected while five people died with the virus.

This was down from the 10,017 new cases and 10 deaths announced on Saturday.

There are now 1009 people with Covid in the state’s hospitals including 43 in intensive care.

This is a slight increase on the day before when there were 995 people in hospital.

More than 94 per cent of the state’s eligible population have received at least two vaccine doses.

In total, 5509 rapid antigen tests and 3273 PCR tests were received.

Queensland reported 2934 new cases on Sunday and two deaths.

This was down from Saturday when 4152 new cases and 12 deaths were announced.

There were 265 people in hospital with Covid and 22 were in intensive care.

Meanwhile Western Australia reported 2270 new cases to 8pm on Saturday.

There were now 12,260 active cases in the state, with 26 people with the virus in hospital.

None were in ICU.

WA had a slight drop from the 2289 cases reported on Friday, when there were 28 people in hospital with the virus.

South Australia announced 1688 new cases on Sunday and two deaths, down from the 1861 cases the previous day.

There were 103 in hospital and 12 in ICU. Two were on ventilators.
