ACT records 30 new Covid-19 cases as 1500 people forced into isolation

More than 1500 Canberrans remain in isolation after 30 new cases were recorded in the ACT overnight.

More than 1500 people have been forced into isolation after the ACT recorded 30 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, health officials have confirmed.

Of the new infections, 16 have been linked to known cases or ongoing clusters – 11 were household contacts. There were 14 cases that remained under investigation.

Authorities said seven cases were in isolation during their infectious period and six spent some time in the community while infectious.

There are 15 Covid positive patients in ACT hospitals, including six in intensive care, including five that require ventilation.

The ACT’s outbreak has now ballooned to 1202 infections, with 763 of those cases having recovered, including 27 of those in the past 24 hours.

There are still 433 active cases in the nation’s capital.

ACT Health continues to work with over 1500 people who have self-identified as close contacts.
